S&T Claims Eighth GLVC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Crown

 

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Missouri S&T captured its fourth-straight and eighth overall league title at the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Stokes Stadium/Gardner Track on the campus of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, to conclude the three-day meet.

The Miners totaled 226 points to best runner-up Lewis University (183) by 43 points.

University of Indianapolis (84) finished third, while Southwest Baptist University (64) and McKendree University (47) placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Sixth place went to Truman State University (45), while the respective seventh- and eighth-place teams were Maryville University (40) and William Jewell College (34). Drury University (32) was ninth and University of Illinois Springfield (27) finished in 10th. Rockhurst University (24) placed 11th, Quincy University (7) was 12th, and University of Missouri-St. Louis (6) rounded out the field in 13th.

The top-three finishers in all events were named All-Conference honorees.

At the conclusion of the Championship, Love earned Track Athlete of the Year, Morris was chosen as Field Athlete of the Year, and UIndy’s Alex Meyer was named Freshman of the Year. The league coaches also recognized Shaun Meinecke as Coach of the Year.

Additionally, Missouri S&T was honored as the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winner, while 13 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also named as their sport’s honoree for the award. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school’s two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced later this month.
