UIndy Adds Fourth GLVC Softball Title to Trophy Case

EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Sixth-seeded University of Indianapolis earned the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Softball Championship in dramatic fashion on Saturday at EastSide Centre, defeating fifth-seeded University of Illinois Springfield on a walk-off single, 2-1. The Greyhounds claimed its fourth league title in the sport and third in the last nine years.

  • UIS's Taylor Zawacki started the scoring with an RBI single in the first frame.
  • UINDY's offense was held at bay until the sixth, when Jocelyn Calvin evened the game with an RBI single.
  • Freshman Brooklyn Willis played hero for UINDY, driving in the game-winning run on a single to center field in the seventh inning.
  • Willis and Shelby Cook contributed two hits apiece to lead UINDY in hitting.
  • GLVC Freshman of the Year Cheyenne Eads was dominant and efficient in her complete-game performance, allowing one run on four hits and tossing just 78 pitches.

The Greyhounds now await the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, May 5 at 10 a.m. ET to determine their regional fate. The 2025 NCAA Division II Championship will be played May 22-28 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee, following regionals on May 8-10 and super regionals on May 15-16.
