INDIANAPOLIS – Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Commissioner Jim Naumovich has announced the hiring of Rick Petty as the league’s Supervisor of Softball Umpires, it was released Wednesday.
Petty brings extensive experience in collegiate softball officiating and administration to the Conference. He currently serves as the Umpire Supervisor for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC). His on-field experience spans multiple college levels, including NCAA Division II, Division III, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and junior college. He has also spent the past several years serving as the GLVC Softball Sub-Assignor for Art Hill, who recently retired as the Supervisor of Umpires.
Throughout his officiating career, Petty has worked numerous DII and DIII conference tournaments and has served as a DII Tournament Regional umpire. He has also officiated 12 NAIA Softball World Series and previously served as the USA Softball Missouri State Umpire-in-Chief (UIC). In recognition of his excellence on the field, Petty earned the USA Softball Elite Umpire designation.
In his new role with the GLVC, Petty is committed to building strong relationships throughout the Conference while supporting the continued growth of softball officiating. His objectives include working collaboratively with Conference administrators, athletic directors, coaches, and umpires while providing meaningful training, development opportunities, and information to both officials and coaching staffs.
Petty is based out of Jefferson City, Missouri.
