INDIANAPOLIS – The conference schedule of contests for the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) football season in 2012 has been approved by the membership. The first league games for the nine-team football conference will be Sept. 15, 2012. The two-year conference cycle features an eight-game league schedule for GLVC members.
The GLVC finalized a timeline for adding football as a sponsored championship sport with 2012 targeted as the first year a football champion would be crowned. In accordance with the timeline, the 2012 and 2013 conference football schedules have been established.
With the recent membership additions to the GLVC, there will be nine football institutions in the conference beginning with the 2012-13 academic year. The GLVC football members include Kentucky Wesleyan College, McKendree University, Missouri S&T, Quincy University, Saint Joseph’s College, University of Indianapolis, William Jewell College and associate members Central State University and Urbana University.
Kentucky Wesleyan, Missouri S&T, Saint Joseph’s and Urbana will compete in the Great Lakes Football Conference (GLFC) in 2011. Quincy and McKendree will wrap their final season in the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) and UIndy will compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the final time this fall.
The 2012 GLVC football schedule will be a round-robin format with each team facing an eight-game conference slate. Conference contests will be played over the course of nine weeks with the first two weeks of the season open for teams to schedule non-conference opponents. Each team will also receive an additional open date throughout the nine-week conference schedule.
The 2012 and 2013 conference schedules for GLVC teams can be found below. A composite schedule will be distributed as league members announce the non-conference opponents scheduled for the open dates.
