INDIANAPOLIS – In the first round of the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament, all four of the top seeds advanced to Friday’s semifinal matches, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on the campus of Rockhurst University.
Top-seed Rockhurst earned hosting rights after sliding past No. 8 University of Southern Indiana 1-0. This is the fourth time in league history that the Hawks will host the men’s soccer championship tournament.
No. 2 seed University of Indianapolis beat No. 7 Drury 2-0; No. 3 Quincy University beat No. 6 Bellarmine by the day’s largest margin, 3-1; and No. 4 Missouri S&T earned a come-from-behind, penalty kick shootout victory over No. 5 Saint Joseph’s College. With the game knotted at 2-2 after the second overtime period, the Miners won the shootout 4-3 with help from goalkeeper James Holloway, who made two PK saves.
