KANSAS CITY, MO – Rockhurst University needed just one goal to earn the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship in men’s soccer Sunday, recording a 1-0 victory over Quincy University at Rockhurst’s Bourke Field in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Hawks posted the game-winner in the 71st minute on a well struck ball just outside the 18-yard box from junior Brian O’Neal that bent around Quincy defenders and into the right side netting after he dribbled centrally from the left side. This was O'Neal's first goal all season, and he handed Rockhurt its fifth GLVC tournament title in program history.

Quincy totaled five shots with three on goal, while Rockhurst had 14 total shots putting half of them on frame. RU’s Logan Feldmann made three saves in 90 minutes, and QU’s Nate Griffin had a stellar game in goal with six saves.

NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer does not utilize an automatic qualifier, but the top-seeded Hawks (16-1-2), who are ranked fifth nationally and first in the Midwest Region, have the numbers on their side. Hosting rights and opponents will be determined Monday night during the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Tournament Selection Show. The third-seeded Hawks, who are sixth in the Midwest, will await their fate during the selection show that airs on NCAA.com at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
