Day 1 Results - Saturday
INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University Is in position to successfully defend both its men’s and women’s titles at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, as the Flyers own the lead in both races following day one of competition Saturday. The annual meet is being held at the Athletics and Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Indianapolis.
The Lewis men secured 49 points on the first day and will take a nine-point advantage over second-place host Indianapolis (40). Missouri S&T is third with 36 points, followed by Southern Indiana (24), Saint Joseph’s (14), and Bellarmine (12) in the top six. Truman State and UW-Parkside are tied for seventh with six points each, while McKendree and Maryville are tied for ninth with three points. William Jewell is 11th overall and Drury has yet to score.
The Flyers boast a 15-point advantage over UIndy in the women’s race as Lewis has 45 points compared to the Greyhounds’ 30 markers. Saint Joseph’s (23) is third and Southern Indiana and William Jewell follow in a tie for fourth with 21 votes each. Missouri S&T has scored 16 points to sit sixth, while Bellarmine (11), Maryville (10), UW-Parkside (9), and McKendree (5) round out the top 10. Truman State currently sits 11th with four points and Drury has yet to score in 12th.
