EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced today that Deaconess, a tri-state community health care provider, will once again be the title sponsor of the 2017 Deaconess GLVC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship Tournaments.  The announcement was made Monday in Evansville, Indiana, at the Ford Center – site of the 2017 tournaments, March 2-5.

Deaconess, which includes Deaconess Hospital, The Heart Hospital, and The Women’s Hospital, partnered with the GLVC and the Evansville Sports Corporation for the 2013 and 2014 Deaconess GLVC Basketball Championship Tournaments.  The Conference spent the last two seasons hosting its annual postseason event in St. Charles, Missouri.

“Not only are we thrilled to return to Evansville, but we are excited to see Deaconess return as the title sponsor of our men’s and women’s basketball tournaments,” said GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich.  “We always look to engage the local community at our events, and Deaconess is one of its most committed supporters of the city of Evansville and the tri-sate region.”

Linda White, CEO of Deaconess Health System, echoed Naumovich’s sentiments.

“Deaconess is proud to be the title sponsor of the upcoming GLVC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship right here in our great community,” White said.  “We encourage health and fitness, and what an opportunity to see young men and women in action representing their schools at the college level.  Let’s show them our support by attending the games!”

Jason Sands, executive director of the Evansville Sports Corporation, noted that while the Deaconess GLVC Basketball Championship Tournaments return to a familiar venue, several new surroundings and amenities in the downtown area await Conference fans.

“We are excited to have the GLVC back in Evansville and the Ford Center and we are looking forward to utilizing our new downtown hotel and the new restaurants around the arena to provide a memorable experience for the student-athletes and fans.”
