INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference is represented by four teams in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Poll, it was announced Tuesday (Jan. 31). Drury University is ninth, Bellarmine University is 15th, while both University of Southern Indiana and Lewis University are each receiving votes outside the top 25.
Drury (19-2, 11-0 GLVC) finally cracked the top 10 this week at No. 9, following another undefeated week of games in the GLVC. Bellarmine (17-3, 9-2 GLVC) dropped from No. 11 to No. 15 after going 1-1 with an upset handed to them by Indianapolis.
Southern Indiana (18-3, 10-1 GLVC) nearly made its way into the top 25 but sits just six points out with 46 compared to No. 25 Western Washington's 51 points. USI won both of its games last week – including a win over UIndy after it had defeated Bellarmine two days prior – and moved into sole possession of first place in the East Division. With a 2-0 week, Lewis (16-5, 8-3 GLVC) continued to receive votes in the coaches poll.
