INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference released Wednesday night the bracket for the 2017 GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. Quincy University earned the top seed in the eight-team tournament and will serve as one of four hosts in the tournament's opening-round contests, which take place this Sunday, Oct. 29. No. 2 McKendree University, No. 3 Maryville University and No. 4 Bellarmine University will also host quarterfinal action.

Top-seeded Quincy finished the regular season with a 13-1 (.929) Conference record to capture its third regular season championship and first since 2013. The Hawks made a big turnaround this season after losing in the first round of the 2016 event as the No. 7 seed. At 15-2 overall, the 12th-ranked team in NCAA Division II will make their league-best 19th appearance in the GLVC Championship Tournament when they host No. 8 seed University of Illinois Springfield (9-5-4, 6-5-3 GLVC, .536) on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT in Quincy, Illinois. Quincy and the Prairie Stars just faced off in Springfield on Oct. 22 with the Hawks earning the come-from-behind win, 3-2. UIS is making its first-ever appearance in the event since joining the league in 2008.

Second-seeded McKendree (12-2-3, 9-2-3, .750), which makes its third consecutive postseason trip and fourth overall, will play host to No. 7 University of Indianapolis (8-6-2, 7-5-2, .571) in Lebanon, Illinois, on Sunday for a quarterfinal matchup at 12 p.m. CT. The Greyhounds make a return to the championship for the first time in five seasons and their 15th trip overall. UIndy claimed the seventh seed after losing a three-way tie between University of Southern Indiana and Truman State University with a 0-1-1 record against those teams. The Bearcats are defending GLVC Champions and will look to repeat its win from Sept. 17 in Indianapolis, topping UIndy 2-1.

Third-seeded Maryville (8-5-3, 7-4-3, .607) welcomes No. 6 Truman State (6-5-5, 6-4-4, .571) to St. Louis, Missouri, Sunday for a 12 p.m. CT kickoff. The Saints earned the No. 3 seed over Bellarmine, as the two tied in a head-to-head battle but Maryville defeated Quincy 1-0 Sept 24, while BU lost 1-0 on Oct. 8. This is Maryville’s first bid to the Conference tournament since joining the league in 2008. The Bulldogs have advanced all five seasons they’ve been members of the GLVC, winning the tournament trophy in 2015, and were tabbed the sixth seed based on a 1-1 record in a three-way tiebreak against USI and UIndy. Earlier this year on Sept. 29, Maryville topped Truman 1-0 on the road.

No. 4 Bellarmine (7-3-5, 6-3-5, .607) returns to the postseason for its 16th trip and has appeared in the GLVC Championship Tournament for the last 10 seasons. The Knights will battle No. 5 University of Southern Indiana (8-5-4, 6-4-4, .571) at 12 p.m. ET in Louisville, Kentucky – a rematch of the Sept. 17 contest in which the two teams tied 0-0. The Screaming Eagles are making their 12th GLVC Championship Tournament appearance and second in a row.

Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament semifinals, which will be hosted for the second time in the sport’s history at a neutral site by the GLVC at Carroll Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, Nov. 3. The two semifinal contests will be played at 12 and 2:30 p.m. ET, while the 2017 GLVC Championship Tournament final will take place Sunday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. ET. Last year, fourth-seeded McKendree captured its first GLVC Championship as a result of a 2-1 overtime victory against No. 2 Rockhurst.

All GLVC Championship Tournament action will be streamed for free on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. All other details and results can be found on the official tournament homepage at GLVCsports.com/2017soccer.
