Two GLVC records were reestablished Saturday, both of which came in the nightcap with the distance medley relay (DMR).

Bellarmine shattered the women’s DMR conference record by nearly three seconds with a winning time of 11:51.69, besting the previous mark of 11:54.25 set by Southern Indiana in 2005.

In the men’s race, USI improved on its own GLVC record with a winning time of 9:58.22, which knocked off the previous DMR effort of 9:59.92 set just last year by the Screaming Eagles.

Lewis earned two conference crowns on the women’s side Saturday, as Phoenix Smallwood won the long jump with an NCAA provisional leap of 5.75 meters (18’-10.5”), finishing ahead of teammate and runner-up Cierra Pulliam at 5.60 meters (18’-4.5”).

The Flyers then responded in the women’s weight throw, posting a 1-2 finish in the event, led by GLVC Champion Lane Kadlec with an NCAA provisional heave of 17.08 meters (56’-0.5”).  Teammate Kianna Clark was second with a throw of 16.37 meters (53’8.5”).

Lewis also netted a win in men’s pole vault as Marcus Holley cleared a winning height of 4.52 meters (14’-10”), beating out teammate Kyle Brown at the same height.

Indianapolis, Saint Joseph’s, and UW-Parkside put together 1-2 finishes on the men’s side in the weight throw, long jump and 5,000 meters, respectively.

UIndy’s Austin Hogan earned an NCAA provisional mark with a winning effort of 18.32 meters (60’-1.25”) in the weight throw, just ahead of teammate and 2016 GLVC Champion Vincent Ziraldo at 18.05 meters (59’-2.75”).

In the long jump, Saint Joseph’s saw Devon Haynes earn the league title with an NCAA provisional effort of 7.21 meters (23’-8”), while fellow Puma Phil Thompson was second at 7.05 meters (23’-1.75”).

In other action, Missouri S&T’s Camille Baker scored an NCAA provisional 3,324 points to claim the pentathlon title, while Southern Indiana’s Hope Jones earned the women’s 5,000 meters crown in 17:20.96, also an NCAA provisional mark.

Sunday’s docket opens with the conclusion of the men’s heptathlon, which is currently being led by UIndy’s Trace Oswalt with 2,707 points.

Including preliminaries, a total of 38 NCAA provisional marks were earned Saturday.

In Sunday’s field events, the men will compete in the finals of the high jump, triple jump and shot put, while the women will crown winners in the high jump, triple jump, shot put and pole vault.
