INDIANAPOLIS – No. 2 seed Bellarmine University and No. 4 seed Maryville University will compete for the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 4 at Woehrle Athletics Complex in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Both Bellarmine and Maryville earned 1-0 wins, respectively, over No. 6 McKendree University and No. 8 Rockhurst University.
In the first of two semifinal games, the Knights drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick in the 57th minute. Sophomore Greg Fischer got the call and converted the free chance for his first goal of the season, propelling Bellarmine to its first title tilt appearance since 1992.
In the second contest of the day, Maryville needed 81 minutes to find its game-winner, as Diego Coy curled a 19-yard free kick past the Rockhurst keeper for his third score of the year. This will be the Saints first-ever appearance in the postseason final since joining the league in 2008.
