In a game that saw 23 lead changes and 16 ties, William Jewell pulled out a 92-90 win over Avila in overtime on Monday evening in the Mabee Center. The Cardinals move to 5-8 on the season with the victory. Lewis scored a season-high 90 points in its 90-59 win at crosstown rival St. Francis on Wednesday evening at the Pat Sullivan Center in Joliet, Ill. Illinois Springfield and Rockhurst gave the GLVC a pair of men's basketball non-conference wins Saturday. UIS had its top offensive performance of the season as the Prairie Stars won their fourth straight with a 97-67 victory over Purdue Northwest. UIS had season-highs in points, field goals made, field-goal percentage, and three-point percentage in the victory. The Prairie Stars finished the game shooting 52.9 percent from the field, including 44.4 percent from three-point range. The Prairie Stars made 36 field goals, 10 more than Purdue Northwest, and 17 free throws, eight more than the Pride. Eleven players scored for UIS, including five in double-figures. Cole Harper led the team with a double-double after having season-highs with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Rockhurst scored 60 points in the second half to rally for a 95-90 win over Emporia State at Mason-Halpin Field House. Curtis Lewis led the Hawks with 24 points (on 11-of-18 shooting), six rebounds and five assists. Eddie Muench came off the bench to score 22 points on seven-of-11 shooting (with four 3-pointers) and three assists. Elsewhere, McKendree dropped a 94-65 decision to Grand Valley State University in the first game of the Quincy/Subway Holiday Classic in Quincy, Ill. Junior guard Alijah Thomas scored all of his 19 points in the first half to lead the Bearcats. Demetrius Houston posted 15 points and four assists, while Marcus Hinton finished with 15 points and eight rebounds in Quincy's 81-66 setback to Lincoln.

The Screaming Eagles, who used a 13-4 run to end the first half and led at the intermission, 47-34, improved to 5-2 overall. Four Eagles reached double digits on the scoreboard, led by Alex Stein with a game-high 23 points. The senior guard was seven-of-12 from the field, perfect three-of-three from long range, and six-of-six from the stripe. Elsewhere, three Bearcats score 17 or more points, including Nolan Gerling's 23 points, but McKendree could not get past Lincoln, 73-69. On the same floor, Quincy fell to Grand Valley State 77-73 in the finale of the Subway Holiday Classic. Drury mounted a furious comeback against 12th-ranked Barry but fell by a point, 82-81, in the first game of the Cruzin' Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday. Allen Billinger led the Panthers with a career-high 28 points. The senior from Carbondale, Illinois went 10 for 17 from the field and 5 for 9 from three-point range. Conley Garrison added 24 points while Andrew Ballock had 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
