SPRINGEIELD, Mo. – No. 12 University of Indianapolis defeated No. 21 Drury University, 5-1, in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament Sunday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri, to claim its third league title in a row and a Conference-best 10th trophy overall.

Despite the lopsided final score, the nearly five-hour long match began in thrilling fashion as all three doubles contests went to tiebreakers. At No. 3 doubles, GLVC Player of the Year Nils Hoffacker and freshman Dario Huber finished first for UIndy, winning 9-8 (7-4) over Drury’s Augustin Diot and Paul Porcher before the Greyhounds’ No. 1 tandem and 22nd-ranked GLVC Freshman of the Year Renato Lima and senior Andrea Morlet were beat out by Panthers’ Leonardo Cerri and Sebastien Amato with a 7-5 tiebreak score. UIndy’s Christoph Drechsler and Magnus Mueller broke the tie at No. 2 doubles, winning their tiebreaker 8-6 to give the Hounds a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Huber was the first to win a match in singles action, beating Diot in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 3 slot to give UIndy a 3-1 lead. #44 Hoffacker followed with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles for a 4-1 advantage, while Lima clinched the match at No. 2 singles in come-from-behind fashion with a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 victory over Amato.

At the conclusion of the Championship, UIndy head coach Malik Tabet was named GLVC Coach of the Year. His Hounds now await their NCAA Tournament seeding, which will be revealed in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Selection Show on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.
