EUREKA, Missouri – The University of Indianapolis extended its lead from four to 15 strokes over the University of Missouri-St. Louis following a 303 in Saturday’s second round of the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Golf Championships, which is being held at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Missouri.
The Greyhounds enter Sunday’s final round with a 36-hole total of 599 (296-303) and will vie for their seventh-straight and 12th overall conference title.
The Tritons are locked in second place at 614 (300-314), 17 strokes ahead of the University of Illinois Springfield (313-318—631) in third. The University of Southern Indiana (336-333—669) sits fourth overall, followed by Lewis University (335-335—670) and Truman State University (328-342—670) tied for fifth. McKendree University (337-345—682), William Jewell College (340-343—683), Drury University (343-343—686) and Missouri S&T (346-349—695) hold down seventh through 10th, while Rockhurst University (350-351—701), Maryville University (367-344-711), Quincy University (347-368—715) and Belarmine University (360-362—722) round out the 14-team field.
Individually, UIndy’s Paxton DeHaven (74-74—148), the 2017 GLVC Champion, surged four positions in the second round following a second-round low of 2-over-74, which leaves her tied for the lead with teammate Annika Haynes (73-75—148), who carded a 3-over 75 on Saturday.
Round one leader Emma Thorngren of UMSL dropped two positions to third at 5-over 149, following a 5-over 77 on Saturday. UIndy’s Katharina Keilich (75-76—151) and Truman State’s Nicolle Barmettler (73-78—151) are tied for fourth overall, followed by Illinois Springfield’s Maria Espinosa (73-79—152) in sixth. Rounding out the top 10 is UIndy’s Pilar Echeverria (74-79—153) in seventh, UMSL’s Alexa Capesius (75-79—154) and Stefaniya Ivanova (81-74—155) in eighth and ninth, respectively, while Illinois Springfield’s Ocean Pangan (78-78—156) and UIndy’s Kylie Raines (78-78—156) are tied for 10th.
Sunday’s 18-hole final round will commence with the top six teams teeing off No. 1 at 8:18 a.m., while teams ranked seventh through 14 will start on No. 10 at 8 a.m.
