INDIANAPOLIS – No. 7 seed University of Southern Indiana and No. 1 seed McKendree University will compete for the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Woehrle Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Four goals were scored in the morning session, as Southern Indiana advanced with a 3-0 upset win past No. 3 Rockhurst University and McKendree held onto the win after getting an early goal that came just 1:06 into the game.

USI got its scoring underway in the 18th minute with a goal from junior forward Maggie Winter, which would ultimately prove to be the game-winner. That 1-0 lead held into halftime, and it wasn’t until 67:11 that the Screaming Eagles would find the back of the net again when sophomore forward Katlyn Andres took a shot from the left side that ricocheted off a Rockhurst defender and into the goal. USI extended its lead to 3-0 in the 74th minute after junior forward Audrey Andrzejewski slotted the ball in from five yards out off a cross from Andres. Additionally, freshman goalkeeper Maya Etienne came up big in the game with nine saves, breaking a 21-year record for single-season shutouts with her 10th. The number of years that standard had held up is the same amount of time since the Eagles last advanced to the GLVC title match in 1998.

Despite a relatively evenly matched contest, it was an errant clearance by Bellarmine that ended up in the back of the net and proved to be the decider in the second semifinal contest. The mishandled shot that was credited as an own-goal came from senior forward Kate Bixby in just the second minute of action. Bellarmine took 11 shots with one on goal, while McKendree registered eight shots with two on goal; both goalkeepers made one save; and the only lopsided stat line was the six corner kicks for the Knights compared to one for the Bearcats. McKendree has now punched its ticket to play for the coveted Conference crown for the third time ever but first since winning back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017.

Sunday’s title match will take place at 12 p.m. ET and will be streamed live and free on GLVCSN.com, the GLVCSN iOS and Android mobile apps, and GLVCSN OTT apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.
