Tournament Bracket
INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference released Sunday night the bracket for the 2019 GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. McKendree University earned the top seed in the eight-team tournament and will serve as one of four hosts in the postseason quarterfinal contests, which take place next Sunday, Nov. 10. No. 2 University of Indianapolis, No. 3 Rockhurst University and No. 4 Truman State University will also host first-round action.
Top-seed and GLVC Regular Season Champion McKendree (13-3-2, 11-2-2 GLVC/.800), which is set to make its fifth consecutive postseason trip and sixth overall, will play host to No. 8 Lewis University (8-7-3, 6-6-3/.500) in Lebanon, Illinois, on Sunday for a quarterfinal matchup at 12 p.m. Central Time. The Flyers return to the championship for the second consecutive season and eighth overall. They will look to rectify a 1-0 loss at McKendree earlier in the season on Oct. 18.
After missing out on the postseason last season, No. 2 Indianapolis (13-3-1, 11-3-1/.767) returns for its 16th appearance in the league’s event and will face No. 7 University of Southern Indiana (10-6-1, 8-6-1/.567) Sunday in Indianapolis, Indiana, at 12 p.m. Eastern Time. USI returns to the Conference dance for the fourth-straight year and 14th overall. The two teams played an early-season contest back on Sept. 20 that saw the Screaming Eagles earn a 1-0 home win.
Defending GLVC Champion Rockhurst (13-4, 11-4/.733) earned the third seed this year after winning the title as the 7-seed a year ago and will start its quest to repeat with a game against No. 6 Maryville (10-5-1, 9-5-1/.633) in Kansas City, Missouri, at 12 p.m. CT. The Saints picked up the sixth seed after losing a head-to-head tiebreaker against No. 5 Bellarmine University. The Hawks will play in their 14th postseason tournament, while Maryville will be competing in its third overall in as many years. This game will be a rematch from Oct. 4 where the Saints beat Rockhurst, 2-1, in Kansas City.
Truman State was 10-6-1 overall and finished with a 10-5 (.667) league record for the fourth seed in the Conference tournament, having extended its streak of earning a bid to the event every year since joining the league in 2013. The Bulldogs will host No. 5 Bellarmine (11-4-3, 8-4-3/.633) on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT in Kirksville, Missouri. The Knights’ head-to-head 1-0 win against Maryville on Oct. 25 in Louisville secured the fifth seed and their 12th berth in a row. On Sept. 29, Bellarmine beat Truman 1-0 in Kirksville.
Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament semifinals, which will be hosted for the fourth time in the sport’s history at a neutral site by the GLVC, returning to the Woehrle Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Ind. for the second year in a row. The two semifinal contests will be played at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ET Friday, Nov. 15, while the 2019 GLVC Championship Tournament final will take place Sunday, Nov 17 4 at 12 p.m. Last year, seventh-seeded Rockhurst captured the 2018 GLVC Championship with a 1-0 overtime win past No. 5 Bellarmine.
