INDIANAPOLIS – The 2019 GLVC Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament bracket was released by the Conference office Saturday evening following the finale of the 2018-19 regular season. Eight of the league’s 14 schools advanced to the postseason tournament after earning a spot based on the GLVC Point Rating System Rankings. The event will take place at the Vadalabene Center on the campus of SIU Edwardsville, March 7-10.

With a 79-58 win over Truman State University Saturday, 19th-ranked Lewis University (23-4, 15-3 GLVC, 4.36 PRS) earned the league’s outright regular-season title while picking up its 11th-straight victory. The Flyers were crowned the GLVC Champions following the postseason tournament in 2016 and will begin the journey to their seventh league crown on Thursday, March 7, with an immediate rematch of the No. 8 seed Bulldogs (14-14, 9-9, 3.08 PRS) at 2:30 p.m. CT. Despite the loss today, Truman took the first contest from Lewis back on Jan. 3, winning 75-66 in Romeoville, Illinois.

Bellarmine University (23-4, 14-4, 4.06), the two-time defending GLVC Champions, defeated Illinois Springfield 90-59 this afternoon to garner the No. 2 seed in next week’s tournament. The 13th-ranked Knights will open the postseason against No. 7 Rockhurst University (17-11, 11-7, 3.22 PRS) – a rematch of the Jan. 19 contest in which Bellarmine posted an 82-71 victory over the Hawks in Kansas City. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT.

The University of Southern Indiana (20-7, 12-5, 3.97 PRS) enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 University of Missouri-St. Louis (20-8, 11-7, 3.22 PRS) in Thursday’s nightcap at 8:30 p.m. CT. The Tritons picked up the 6-seed over Rockhurst via a tiebreaker, as they defeated USI at home Jan. 5, whereas the Hawks fell to the Eagles 59-78 on Jan. 17. Earlier this year, UMSL defended its home court with a 73-61 victory over the Screaming Eagles on Jan. 5.

No. 4 seed University of Indianapolis (19-9, 12-6, 3.78 PRS) will square off against No. 5 Drury University (19-10, 13-5, 3.69 PRS) in the event’s opener at 12 p.m. CT on Thursday. UIndy edged the Panthers 71-70 in Springfield, Missouri, back on Jan. 10.

Both the women’s and men’s semifinals will commence on Saturday, March 9, as the men take to the court at noon and 2:30 p.m., followed by the women at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The men’s GLVC Champion will be crowned after its 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, March 10, followed by the women’s final at 3:30 p.m.
