INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Saturday evening that the University of Indianapolis, Rockhurst University, Maryville University, and the University of Montevallo have earned a bid to the league’s second annual GLVC Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, which will be held April 26-28 at Key Stadium on the campus of UIndy.
The top-four teams based on highest Conference winning percentage earn a spot in the single-elimination tournament.
UIndy (12-1, 6-0 GLVC) was perfect in league play during the second-ever season of GLVC competition to earn the Regular Season title and top seed for the postseason event. The Greyhounds ended their campaign on a seven-match win streak that included a 12-11 overtime thriller against Rockhurst (10-3, 5-1) Friday afternoon, which determined the Regular Season Champion, top seed, and host of the postseason event. The Hawks follow as the No. 2 seed, while Maryville (9-5, 3-3) will be the No. 3 seed and Montevallo (5-8, 3-3) earned the last spot as the No. 4 seed. Despite having the same record in Conference play, the Saints won the tiebreaker against the Falcons with a 16-13 head-to-head result on March 10.
In the teams’ first meetings on April 6, UIndy defeated Montevallo 14-12, while Rockhurst bested Maryville 15-11.
UIndy and Montevallo will meet in the first semifinal match at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, April 26, while Rockhurst faces off with Maryville in the nightcap at 6:30 p.m.
The championship final will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
A $15 all-tournament pass will be available for entry, while daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID and youth ages 6-12. Children 5 and under will be admitted free of charge.
