INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced its GLVC Sports Network (GLVCSN) streaming coverage for the 2019 GLVC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships, which will take place over the next week at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois.

The 41st edition of the GLVC Men’s Golf Championship will take place April 21-23. The event features a 54-hole stroke play format with the top-four teams after stroke play competing in medal/match play to determine the Conference champion. A total of 36 holes will be played on Sunday, April 21, followed by 18 holes on Monday, April 22. The semifinals and finals of match play will take place on Tuesday, April 23.
Indianapolis has captured 16 GLVC Championships, followed by Bellarmine, Lewis and Northern Kentucky with six each. Missouri-St. Louis earned both of its GLVC titles over the past four seasons. Southern Indiana along former league members UW-Parkside and Ashland have all claimed the GLVC Championship once.

Last season, top-seeded UIndy turned in a near-sweep over second-seeded Maryville, 4.5-0.5, in Medal/Match Play en route to its league-best 16th GLVC Championship but first since 2014. The Greyhounds completed the effort by defeating the Saints in all but one head-to-head match-up, as Maryville was making its first-ever appearance in the finals, following a 4-1 win over reigning GLVC Champion and third-seeded Bellarmine. UIndy advanced to the finals after surviving a scare from No. 4 Missouri-St. Louis in the Semifinals, 3-2.

UIndy senior Graham McAree concluded his impressive career by winning GLVC medalist honors at 2-under 214 (72-76-66). McAree secured the title by three shots over Maryville's Joey Williams (70-73-74–217), who was two strokes ahead of teammate Jake Newman (76-74-69–219). Southern Indiana's Preston Van Winkle (75-76-70–221) clocked in at fourth, while three tied for fifth at 223: UIndy's Erik Edwards (76-78-69) and Spencer Klimek (74-76-73) along with Bellarmine's James Inman (74-77-72).

UIndy graduate and GLVCSN Extra Credit alumnus Harrison Silcox will oversee Sunday’s 36-hole coverage before turning over the microphone to John Edwards, who will call the action for the remainder of the men’s championship and the entire women’s event.

The 21st GLVC Women’s Golf Championship will take place April 26-28, with 18 holes played on each of the three days of competition.
Indianapolis (12), Drury (2), Lewis (1), and Southern Indiana (1), along with former GLVC members Northern Kentucky (3) and SIU Edwardsville (1), have each won the GLVC Women's Golf Championship.

Last season, UIndy fired a 1-under-par 287 in the final round to reset the school’s own GLVC record of 292. The Greyhounds (296-303-287—886) also broke its own GLVC mark for 54 holes, besting its winning effort of 889 back in 2016. Additionally, UIndy earned its title by 37 strokes to set the league’s new largest margin of victory. Missouri-St. Louis finished second at 923 (300-314-309), followed by Illinois Springfield (956), Southern Indiana (989), and Truman State (1000) in the top five.

For just the second time in GLVC history, an individual won back-to-back medalist honors, as UIndy senior Paxton DeHaven successfully defended her conference crown with a winning effort of 3-over 219 (74-74-71). It was the third-straight and sixth occasion overall where a Greyhound captured the GLVC title, as teammates Kylie Raines and Katharina Keilich finished as co-medalists in 2016.

UIndy teammates Keilich (75-76-72—223) and Pilar Echeverria (74-79-70—223) tied for third, just one shot behind Truman State’s Nicolle Barmettler (73-78-71—222), while Greyhounds' Annika Haynes (73-75-79—227) finished fifth overall.

The GLVC Golf Championships will once again be streamed live and free on all GLVC Sports Network platforms, including GLVCSN.com, iOS/Android mobile apps, and Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV OTT apps. A complete schedule will be announced during championship week.

In both events, threesomes will tee off beginning at 8 a.m. CT, with GLVCSN streaming the No. 1 as well as coverage of the No. 9 and 18 greens from 7:45-12 p.m.

On the men’s side, GLVCSN will be back on the air for a recap of the first round and coverage of the second 18 holes from 3:30-7:45 p.m.  On Monday, GLVCSN will be on the air from 7:45-12 p.m. and 1:30-4 p.m., which will include the awards ceremony and annual GLVC Medal/Match Play Selection Show.  Several hours of coverage will also be dedicated to the semifinal and final rounds of medal/match play throughout the day on Tuesday, beginning at 7:45 a.m.

Listed coverage is weather permitting and subject to change.

The top-five finishers at the GLVC Championships are named All-GLVC, and the top-finishing individual after 54-hole medal play earns medalist honors. The remaining golf awards, including All-Conference positions Nos. 6-10, as well as GLVC Player, Freshman, and Coach of the Year, are named by a vote of the coaches at the conclusion of the spring season.

Admission to the 2019 GLVC Golf Championships is free to the public.
