While I still have another year to look forward to, the pain I feel for the seniors on our team is immeasurable. They never knew that the last shot they hit would likely be their last as a college athlete; that their last birdie might be the last one they made in college; or that they may never again board the bus for a team trip.
Right now, it doesn't feel like there is anything positive to take from this situation. However, to accept that mindset would be to forget everything we ever learned as athletes. We all learned a long time ago to treat each shot, practice, and moment as though it were our last.
I have another year left and will keep in mind the pain felt by our seniors, as I prepare to play next year and focus on making the most of each opportunity.
So while it hurts now, my mindset towards sports and life will forever be altered as a result of this adversity.
