This pandemic has put me in a time-warp, back to my freshman year (1965) in college (my home). I go to my dorm room (bedroom) every night to go to bed and I go to the cafeteria (my kitchen) every day where an nice lady (my wife) serves me three meals a day.
For entertainment, I go to the Rec Center (family room) where I can watch TV and videos or play games, sometimes with friends (via the internet – didn’t have that luxury back then). When I need to work or study, I head to the library (my home office) and try to concentrate on the task at hand.
I’m not meeting any new people because I am too nervous (coronavirus you know) to approach them, so I stay 6-10 feet away. I have a car on campus (driveway), but really nowhere to go, even though the price of gas is approaching 1970 levels. Family Day is ahead, (whenever they lift the stay-home edict) and my family will come visit me on campus (my house), it will be nice to see them all up-close again.
Hope I can meet some new friends soon, although I miss my old friends as I haven’t seen them since I got here. I hope they are all safe and well too. Freshman year all over again and looking forward to the semester break (lifting of the stay-home edict).
