2019-20 GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award Honorees

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has identified a league-record 420 student-athletes across 15 member institutions who have earned the GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award, it was announced on Thursday. This year’s total marks the first time more than 400 honorees have been recognized since the award was first inaugurated in the spring of 2010.  A total of 316 students from 14 member institutions earned the honor last year, while the previous league record of 355 from 16 schools was set in 2015-16.

The recipients of the GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award exemplify the outstanding student-athletes in the GLVC.  Each honoree has exhausted his or her eligibility in the intercollegiate sport in which they participated and maintained at least a 3.5 grade point average throughout their academic career.

In addition, to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the GLVC for a minimum of two years and completed 96 credit hours. A student-athlete can only earn the distinguished honor one time in his or her career.

Sixteen students from six member institutions met the highest standard of academic excellence by concluding their collegiate careers with an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA:

  • Sydney Rey, Women’s Swimming and Diving, McKendree (Exercise Science and Sport Performance)
  • Kelly Voss, Volleyball, McKendree (Management and Human Resource Management)
  • Alissa Zeitelhack, Volleyball, McKendree (Exercise Science and Sport Performance)
  • Avery English, Softball, Missouri S&T (Chemical Engineering)
  • Zach Bodeau, Men’s Lacrosse, Rockhurst (Criminal Justice and Psychology)
  • Kiri Evans, Softball, Rockhurst (Biochemistry – Pre-Med)
  • Sloane Totta, Women ‘s Basketball, Truman State (Communication Disorders)
  • Quinn Miller, Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field, Truman State (Business Administration)
  • Amelia Coyne, Women’s Soccer, Truman State (Statistics)
  • Allison Cross, Women’s Soccer, Truman State (Exercise Science)
