EUREKA, Mo. - The University of Indianapolis holds the team lead, while the University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Chris Ferris and Maryville University senior Alex Locke are knotted for first in the individual race after the opening day of the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Missouri.
After being tied with UMSL after the first round, UIndy (289-292-581) ended with a one-stroke advantage over defending GLVC Champion Maryville University (293-289-582) that improved from third after its first-round performance. Missouri S&T (296-296-592) sits third, just one stroke better than UMSL (289-304-593) in fourth.
The top-four teams at the end of 54 holes of stroke play on Monday will advance to Tuesday's medal/match play semifinals.
UIndy was paced by Keegan Bronnenberg, who shot a 69-73-142 for a third-place tie, while Oliver Mast carded scores of 71-73-144 for a fifth-place tie. Locke (72-69) and Ferris (69-72) shot rounds of 141, while S&T freshman Carl Miltun fired a pair of 71s (142) to be tied in third with Bronnenberg. Tritons' junior Reilly Ahearn shot a tournament-low 68 in the first round of action.
Monday's final round of stroke play begins at 8 a.m. CT on No. 1 tee and at 8:27 a.m. on 10 tee.
