INDIANAPOLIS – Through cold temperatures, strong winds, rain, and snow, University of Indianapolis and Maryville University won their respective semifinal matches in medal/match play action of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Missouri.

The top-seeded Greyhounds shutout fourth-seeded Missouri S&T, 5-0, advancing to their seventh championship match in the nine years the format has been played. The Saints topped No. 3 seed University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4.5-.5, to play in their third-straight finals – all against UIndy.

The Greyhounds jumped out of the gate early in the semifinals, as Erik Edwards opened with a three-under-par 12-stroke advantage over S&T’s Colin Stolze, 69-81, to give UIndy one point in the medal/match play scoring format.

That opening win was followed by four more, including an eight-stroke edge for Oliver Mast (72) in the third match over Fatt Hoe Yong (80). Additionally, UIndy’s Keenan Bronnenberg defeated individual medalist, S&T’s Carl Miltun, 76-79, in the fourth matchup. Elsewhere, Hounds’ Cam Carroll won the second match, 77-79, against S&T’s Gustav Liljedahl, while UIndy’s Ian Carroll (75) won the anchor matchup against Miners’ Mike Finnegan (80) by five strokes.

In the other match, Austin Fauser put the Saints up 1-0 thanks to his 80-82 win over UMSL’s Trevor Kosch. The Tritons answered with Juan Antonio Padilla’s (79) one-stroke victory against Keenan Flemming (80) before Maryville’s Jake Newman bested UMSL’s Joel Sylven, 74-80. Saints’ Alex Locke clinched the match with a 71-74 win against UMSL’s Reilly Ahearn, while UMSL’s Chris Ferris and Maryville’s Will Holan tied in the fifth matchup with identical scores on 77.

The weather made course conditions unplayable for another 18-hole round, so the event will extend one extra day to allow these advancing teams to compete in the medal/match play finals on Wednesday. Per the course officials, tee times will not be able to begin any earlier than 12 p.m. Central Time, with the pairs going off No. 1 tee.

The GLVC Men’s Golf Championship will continue to be streamed live and free on all GLVC Sports Network platforms, including GLVCSN.com, iOS/Android mobile apps, and Roku, Apple TV, Amazon fireTV and Android TV OTT apps. Coverage is likely to be restricted to the back nine with an approximate start time of 2 p.m. CT with action off tee No. 10 and greens 9 and 18. After competition concludes, the broadcast will turn to the team champion trophy presentation.
