ST. CHARLES, Mo. – McKendree University and University of Southern Indiana will battle for the 2020-21 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Soccer Championship, as the two programs kick off at 3 p.m. CT from the campus of Lindenwood University on Sunday afternoon.
The top-seeded Bearcats and third-seeded Screaming Eagles both earned 1-0 victories in Friday’s semifinals, knocking off No. 5 Quincy University and No. 2 University of Indianapolis, respectively. Southern Indiana is looking for its second straight title after winning the tournament in 2019, while McKendree will attempt to add its third trophy and first since 2017.

Taylor McCormick finally capitalized on a Southern Indiana (12-3-1) chance, as the senior snuck a header past No. 24 UIndy (11-4-1) back-turned-goalkeeper Makaiah Haberkorn in the 96’ to send the third-seeded Screaming Eagles to the GLVC Championship on Sunday. USI made 25 shots in the win, including 12 on frame before McCormick’s game-winner. Katlyn Andres was credited with the assist on the score, while netminder Maya Etienne produced six saves for the clean sheet. The Screaming Eagles now get the opportunity to defend its Conference crown, as they won the 2019 event as the No. 7 seed.

After nearly 55 minutes of scoreless action on Friday evening, Riley Ross poked her third goal of the season into the upper-right corner to give No. 4 McKendree (13-2-1) its biggest 1-0 victory of the spring and send the Bearcats to the GLVC Championship. Abby Tucker made five saves between the posts for the Bearcats, as she stared down 15 chances from Hawks. Reagan Mauch earned the assist on the goal from Ross, her first of the season. McKendree looks for its first GLVC crown since 2017 on Sunday afternoon.
