FISHERS, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis earned its ninth consecutive and 14th overall Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women's Golf Championship Sunday at The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Indiana, while University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Emma Thorngren won the individual medalist race.

The Greyhounds (304-307-304-915) led wire-to-wire and finished with a 29-stroke victory over runner-up University of Missouri-St. Louis (319-309-316-944).

The University of Illinois Springfield (330-321-329-980), Lindenwood University (335-328-340-1003), and McKendree University (335-334-337-1006) finished third through fifth, respectively, while Drury University (342-332-333-1007), Missouri S&T (341-327-341-1009), Lewis University (333-346-336-1015), University of Southern Indiana (340-338-347-1025), and Maryville University (335-343-354-1032) rounded out the top 10. William Jewell College (345-351-346-1042), Rockhurst University (361-349-349-1059), Truman State University (354-357-371-1082), Quincy University (362-364-386-1112), and Southwest Baptist University (405-403-404-1212) closed out the 15-team field.

Thorngren earned her first GLVC Championship with a 54-hole total of 224 (73-76-75), 8. She was one of four competitors in the 74-player field to record all three rounds in the 70s this weekend on the challenging par-72, 6,028-yard course. Her win marks the second time overall but first in a decade that a Triton player captured the Conference crown, as Shweta Galande was the first in 2011. Thorngren is, however, the very first in program history to win the trophy for a 54-hole event.

UIndy senior Pilar Echeverria gave Thorngren a run for her money in the final round, shooting a round- and tournament-tying low 73, but fell just one stroke shy of forcing a playoff, and settled for runner-up honors. Hounds' sophomore Hunter Nugent (75-74-79-228) was in the hunt after round two but had a tough go on the final day to finish third. Senior Anna Kramer (79-77-76-232) steadily improved each round to claim fourth place, while Junior Cailyn Henderson (78-80-76-234) played her best round on Championship Sunday to garner fifth place and the final spot on the first half of the All-Conference squad, which is presented to the top-five finishers.

The remainder of the All-Conference team, along with GLVC Player, Freshman, and Coach of the Year honors, will be determined by a vote by the league coaches next week.
