LEBANON, Ill. – University of Indianapolis collected five Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women’s lacrosse major awards and Lindenwood University earned one in the league’s inaugural postseason announcement on Friday.

UIndy’s Cassidy King (Goalkeeper), Sarah Klein (Freshman), Abigail Lagos (Attacker), Riley McClure (Defender), and Peyton Romig (Midfielder) were all named their respective position’s major award recipients, while Lindenwood’s Jack Cribbin was tabbed Coach of the Year by his peers.

In all, 45 student-athletes earned All-GLVC honors on Friday, as voted by the league’s eight head coaches. Thirteen players covered 14 spots on the First Team, while 12 others were named to the Second Team and 20 were listed as Honorable Mention. Eight individuals were also named the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award nominees, while Quincy University earned the sport’s James R. Spalding Sportsmanship team recipient.

Lagos ranked first in the GLVC this spring with 54 goals and second with 71 points to lead the nation’s top scoring offense on her way to GLVC Attacker of the Year. The Windham, N.H., native earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Week distinction on March 1 – the third of her career – when she netted a career-high seven goals in the Greyhounds’ win over then-No. 4 Queens University. Lagos tallied five or more points on nine occasions this season, including a season-best nine tallies against McKendree University in the regular season finale last Saturday. This marks Lagos’ first major award as a collegiate player and second All-Conference honor of her career with an All-GLVC First Team selection.

Romig was a machine in the midfield this season, securing 175 draw controls, 41 points, 24 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers to earn GLVC Midfielder of the Year. In addition, the Carthage, N.Y., product earned a pair of All-GLVC First Team nods at midfield and draw specialist, leading the country with 13.46 draw controls per game. Romig snagged double-digit draws in all but four games this spring, finishing with a career-high 22 against Missouri Western State University on April 9. The senior tallied a season-high seven points against Rockhurst University on April 11 and five goals against Findlay on March 6. Romig was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week twice, including April 12 and April 19.

McClure collected GLVC Defensive Player of the Year on Friday, adding to the pair of major awards she earned when UIndy was a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in 2018 and 2019. The Ancaster, Ontario, native was also voted to the All-GLVC First Team unanimously as one of four defenders, totaling 51 draw controls, 17 ground balls, and 15 caused turnovers. McClure locked down All-GLVC First Team attacker Erin McGuire in UIndy’s contest with Lindenwood on April 22 in a battle of the top two teams in the country, limiting the Westminster, Md., product to just goal.

King was named the league’s first Goalkeeper of the Year, earning the second top honor of her career after receiving the GLIAC distinction in 2019 as a rookie. The junior leads the nation in goals-against average (4.39) and ranks fifth in save percentage (.574), while allowing two or less goals on eight occasions this spring to earn a spot on the All-GLVC First Team as a unanimous selection. In seven Conference contests, King produced a .553 save percentage, making 26 stops on 47 shots on goal. The Canandaigua, N.Y., product made double-digit saves twice, including 10 against Rockhurst on April 11, and was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week on March 1 and March 29.

Klein was a key part to the Greyhound attack this spring, recording 58 points and 21 ground balls to earn GLVC Freshman of the Year. The redshirt-freshman scored 34 goals this season, including 20 in seven league contests, while adding at least one assist in six Conference games. The Baldwinsville, N.Y., product dished out three helpers on five occasions this spring and scooped up at least two ground balls seven times. Klein was also named to the All-GLVC First Team, as one of seven Greyhounds to do so.

Cribbin earned his sixth Conference Coach of the Year honor on Friday, winning the league’s inaugural top honor after guiding the Lions to a GLVC regular season crown and the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Championship Tournament this weekend. In his 16th season, Cribbin coached 11 All-GLVC selections in 2021, including four first-team members, five second-team honorees, and three honorable mentions. Senior Lexy Biller was voted an All-GLVC First Team midfielder, while also earning All-GLVC Second Team accolades as a draw specialist. The Lions enter the weekend undefeated (12-0) and the top-ranked program in NCAA DII.

Joined by Kara Antonucci and Grace Gunneson, UIndy led all league programs with eight First Team choices (seven individuals), while two others were named All-GLVC Second Team picks and three earned Honorable Mention. Lindenwood garnered four first-team nods, with defenders Hailey Dobbins and Alyssa Kneedler securing spots on the top team with teammates Biller and McGuire. McKendree attacker Kat Albrecht and Missouri Western midfielder Jordan Shughrue were also tabbed All-GLVC First Team members.

Quincy earned the sport’s GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Award, while eight student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior were also recognized. These individuals must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees from full-time GLVC member institutions are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
