GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament Returns to
East Peoria for 35th Annual Event
The 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament returns to the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois for the 35th edition of the annual event, Nov. 18-20, and is the fourth consecutive year the postseason event has been held at this venue.
Four quarterfinal matches will be contested on Friday, Nov. 18, with the first beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT. A pair of semifinal matches will be played at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, with the championship match held at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.
Lewis leads the current Conference contingent with nine titles, followed by UIndy’s five, Southern Indiana's two, and Rockhurst and Truman State with one championship each. As for former league members, IPFW earned eight titles, Northern Kentucky won seven, and Ashland and SIU Edwardsville captured one title each.
In 2015, No. 2 seed Lewis beat East No. 3 seed Indianapolis 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-23).
The remainder of the 2015 GLVC Championship Tournament field was comprised of No. 1 McKendree and No. 4 UW-Parkside in the East, and No. 1 Rockhurst, No. 2 Missouri S&T, No. 3 Drury and No. 4 Southern Indiana in the West.
