GLVC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships Returns to Dwight Davis Tennis Center
The 2017 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's & Women's Tennis Championships will be hosted by the GLVC on April 21-23 in St. Louis, Missouri. The 2017 event, which will be primarily held at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center, with secondary courts at Washington University's Tao Tennis Center, is the 39th annual edition for the men and 37th for the women.
The top-four teams based on highest divisional winning percentage from each of the GLVC's two divisions earn a spot in the two eight-team tournaments. Both events are single elimination with the championship match conducted on Sunday.
For the third-straight season, the GLVC Tennis Championships will be streamed live and free on the GLVC Sports Network. A complete schedule will be announced during championship week.
Bellarmine (8), Indianapolis (8), Southern Indiana (7), Drury (7), former league member Northern Kentucky (5), Rockhurst (2), and former league member SIU Edwardsville (2) have all claimed GLVC Men's Tennis Championshps.
Last year, Indianapolis defeated rival Southern Indiana 5-2 in the championship match at the 5 Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Illinois. The victory gave the Greyhounds their first league crown since 1995.
On the women's side, Indianapolis (9), Drury (7), former league member Northern Kentucky (6), Saint Joseph's (6), Southern Indiana (3), Lewis (2), Bellarmine (1) and former league member SIU Edwardsville (1) have all recorded Conference championships in the past.
Lewis defeated No. 24 Drury 5-1 for the 2016 title at the 5 Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Illinois. The victory gave the Flyers their second league crown and first since 2012.
