Westbrook is the conference’s first repeat honoree as the talented return man was honored as Special Team Player of the Week following the season opener on Sept. 3. In addition, Missouri S&T is the lone school to boast a weekly conference honoree in each of the first four weeks of the season. Westbrook returned his second punt of the season for a touchdown in the Miners’ 47-23 win over Kentucky Wesleyan and finished the night with 139 return yards on four returns. His 74-yard punt return for the first-quarter score capped a 21-0 point run in a school record span of 2:06. In addition to his touchdown, the Centralia, Ill., native also had a 50-yard runback of a kickoff in the contest to average 34.8 yards per return on the night. Through four games this year, Westbrook is ranked No. 2 nationally in punt returns with an average of 29.13 yards per return, second only to UIndy’s Fiechter’s average of 33.00.
