Senior goalkeeper Patrick Ream of the University of Missouri-St. Louis has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by the league office. Ream helped the Tritons to a pair of 1-0 victories last week, including an upset win at home over No. 5 Rockhurst.
A native of St. Charles, Mo., Ream registered both shutout wins in 188 minutes and 42 seconds of play. On Friday, he stopped a career-best eight shots against Rockhurst, which entered the game with 14 goals on the year, and then added three saves in UMSL’s 1-0 blanking of William Jewell on Sunday. Ream improved his season shutout total to four games and currently boasts a 5-2 mark between the posts.
The Tritons are now winners of their last four games and sit 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
This is the first weekly honor for Ream and marks just the second time a Triton has earned the award as Colin Huber was the first to do so on Sept. 18, 2006.
