INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Saint Joseph’s College’s Sara Somogyi (Chicago, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. 
 

Somogyi, a sophomore pitcher for Saint Joseph’s, threw her first collegiate no-hitter in the Pumas’ 3-0 win over Georgian Court on Mar. 4 in Kissimmee, Florida. 

She struck out a school-record 19 hitters in the win and came within two of breaking the NCAA D-II record for strikeouts in a seven-inning game.

Somogyi allowed just one walk on the afternoon and helped the Pumas open the season with a 2-0 overall record.

Saint Joseph’s returned to the diamond today to face Lake Superior State and Saint Rose at the Rebel Spring Games.

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Northern Kentucky’s Candace White, SIU Edwardsville’s Sabra McCune, Southern Indiana’s Stephanie Schneider and UIndy’s Megan Russell.
