Quincy University junior Kekoura Sakouvogui and sophomore Kristen Dippold have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference men’s and women’s cross country Runners of the Week, it was announced Monday by the conference office. Sakouvogui and Dippold both paced Quincy at the Brissman/Lundeen Cross Country Invitational, held last Friday at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.
Sakouvogui, a native of Beardstown, Ill., led the men's team with a time of 27:41.7 to help the Hawks finish 26th overall. Dippold, a Thebes, Mo., native, guided the Lady Hawks with a time of 24:24.6 to guide Quincy to a 30th-place finish.
The weekly honors are the first-ever for the Quincy’s men’s and women’s cross country programs.
The Hawks and Lady Hawks return to the course this Friday in the College of Dupage Invitational. Quincy will be among 22 GLVC men's and women’s cross country teams in action this week. Six men’s and women’s programs will compete at the 11th Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, while Maryville and UW-Parkside travel to the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
