Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Ashley Price (O’Fallon, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.

Price, a junior outfielder/designated player for fifth-ranked SIUE, led the Cougars to four wins last week. She was 5-for-9 at the plate with four runs, four walks, six RBI and two home runs in the contests.

In SIUE’s doubleheader sweep of Lincoln on Feb. 28, Price was 2-for-4 with three RBI. She posted a 2-for-2 effort in the opening game with two home runs. She also walked twice in the series.

Price returned in the Cougars 7-0 win over Northwood on Mar. 4 to go 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Against Saint Rose on Mar. 4, Price was 1-for-3 with one RBI. She is hitting .385 on the young season with nine runs, eight RBI and four stolen bases.

SIUE is 9-2 overall and has won seven straight games. The Cougars, the defending GLVC Champions, will continue action at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida on Mar. 7.

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Missouri-Rolla’s Ashley Winter, Northern Kentucky’s Shatona Campbell, Southern Indiana’s Ally McKinley and UIndy’s Colleen Roach.
