The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Bellarmine senior Bryan Ratterman as the GLVC Player of the Month for September, it was announced Thursday.  Ratterman, who completed four events last month with an average of 74.50, earned the conference accolade following a vote from the league’s men’s golf coaches.

Ratterman opened the month by firing a 74 to help the Knights to a winning score of 287 at the Jim English Invitational hosted by Centre College on Sept. 6.

The Louisville, Ky., native then finished tied for 63rd overall with a 231 (75-77-79) at Morehead State’s Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off on Sept. 10-11.  His efforts helped Bellarmine to rounds of 290-309-296 for a 54-hole total of 889, good for eighth in the 14-team field.

The following week at the UW-Parkside Fall Invitational, Ratterman caught fire and captured medalist honors with a 3-over-par 147 (71-76) in a field of 60 players.  The Knights finished runner-up against eight other squads, finishing with a 36-hole total of 612 (296-316).

The 2009-10 GLVC Freshman of the Year concluded the month by earning his second-straight individual title, this time at a loaded 88-player GLIAC Fall Invitational field on Sept. 24.  Ratterman's even-par total of 144 was good enough for a two-shot victory over Saginaw Valley's Micah Skidmore. In the team competition, Bellarmine's 606 (301-305) total earned the Knights sixth place, 12 shots behind the winning Warriors of Wayne State (Mich.).

The monthly honor is the second of Ratterman’s career as he was also recognized by the conference for his efforts last year as the Player of the Month for March 2011.
