INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis junior Jenny Konop has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Month for September in women’s golf, it was announced by the conference office Thursday.  Konop posted a 73.8 stroke average over a span of three tournaments last month, claiming one individual title and three top-10 finishes as well.

Konop opened the season at the Green Bay Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Sept. 10-11.  The Green Bay, Wis., native just missed earning her second collegiate title in her hometown, finishing one shot back of Butler’s Jenna Peters at 4-over-par 150 (73-77).  As a team, the Greyhounds finished first in the 11-team field with at 629 (306-323).

At the rain-shortened Screaming Eagle Fall Classic, held Sept. 16-17 in Evansville, Ind., Konop’s efforts helped shatter both the UIndy individual and team school record for low round.  She finished the opening round with a 7-under 65, which allowed the Hounds to card an even-par 288, eight shots better than the previous school mark, and earn a 22-stroke team victory.

Konop concluded the month of September on another impressive note, placing eighth overall at 10-over 154 (78-76) in the UIndy Fall Invitational in Camby, Ind., Sept. 23-24.  The Hounds finished runner-up in the 11-team field and ended the month of September ranked 14th nationally.

Konop, who earns her first career GLVC Player of the Month award, finished as the top Greyhound in all three fall events.
