INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Missouri-Rolla’s Stephen Read (Putnam, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week,. 

Read, a senior righthander for the Miners, tossed a complete-game in Missouri-Rolla’s 5-1 win over Maryville on Feb. 28.

He surrendered just six hits and allowed one earned run, while striking out a career-high ten batters. Read’s only run allowed came with two outs in the seventh.

His effort helped the Miners push their winning streak to five games. They are now 5-3 overall on the season.

Read is 1-0 on the season in two appearances. He has struck out 12 in 12 innings pitched and boasts an earned run average of 1.50.

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included SIU Edwardsville’s Adama Schneider.
