UW-Parkside’s junior Evan Lewandowski and senior Jessica Watychowicz have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference men’s and women’s cross country Runners of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.  Lewandowski and Watychowicz paced both UW-Parkside programs at the Rangers’ Lucian Rosa Invitational, held last Saturday at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course.

Lewandowski, a native of Medford, Wis., led the men's team finishing fourth with an 8K-time of 25:07.4.  In just his second race of the season, Lewandowski’s time was the eighth-fastest in the GLVC this year, which helped the Rangers finish third overall.

This week’s award is Lewandowski’s third of his career as he was also recognized Sept. 13 and Oct. 18 of 2011. This is also the second award for the Rangers this season as Jesus Escareno captured the weekly honor on Sept. 11.

The Rangers are idle this weekend before competing at the GLVC Championships on Oct. 20 in Springfield, Mo.
