INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University’s Matt Marksbury (Norwood, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Marksbury tossed a gem in Northern Kentucky’s 2-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis on March 9 in the GLVC opener.

The 6-foot-2 senior righthander completed a nine-inning shutout of the division-rival Rivermen. He surrendered just two hits and one walk in the outing while striking out 10.

It was the 13th career complete game for Marksbury who is now 2-0 on the year with a 2.05 earned run average.

Northern Kentucky (2-11, 1-2 GLVC) will return to action at Bellarmine on March 14.

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Michale Thompson, Drury’s Chris Marston, Missouri-Rolla’s Stephen Read, Quincy’s Greg Dowdall, Rockhurst’s J.P. McGrath, SIU Edwardsville’s Mike White and Southern Indiana’s Adam Summers.
