Bellarmine University senior guard Betsy Goodin was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for contests played Nov. 19-25, it was announced by the league on Monday.

Goodin had a strong showing in helping the Knights pick up two in-region wins at the Southern Indiana Thanksgiving Classic, averaging 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals. She shot 54.5 percent  from the field (12-22), 50.0 percent from beyond the arc (2-4), and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe (5-7).  Against Lake Superior State, Goodin grabbed an offensive rebound and laid it in with 0.9 seconds remaining on the clock to give the Knights the 76-75 win. She finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive end. It is the second double-double of her career.

On Sunday, Goodin provided a spark off the bench scoring 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line guiding the Knights to a 76-50 victory over Notre Dame College (Ohio). She pulled down four rebounds to go along with three assists and two steals in 21 minutes of action.

The honor is Goodin’s first of her career and the first for a Bellarmine player since Lauren Jones collected the award on Nov. 22, 2010.
