Drury University senior guard Brandon Lockhart has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball, it was announced by the league office on Monday.  In guiding the Panthers to a 2-0 record this past week, Lockhart averaged 13.5 points, 9.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals, all while shooting 64 percent from the field.

In Friday’s 87-57 victory over Central Oklahoma in the Comfort Inn/Drury Thanksgiving Classic, Lockhart netted 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting (.714), made all three of his 3-point attempts, and dished seven assists to go along with a pair of rebounds and steals in just 21 minutes of play.  The St. Louis, Mo., native was also a perfect 5-of-5 at the free-throw line.

On Saturday, the Panthers throttled No. 19 Arkansas Tech 90-61 in the Classic to move to 4-0 on the season.  Lockhart filled the stat sheet in the win, posting a career-high 12 assists to help four Panthers score in double digits in the win.  In addition to his career-high assists mark, Drury’s floor general added nine points, six steals and six rebounds in 35 minutes of play.

The weekly honor is Lockhart’s second of his career as he was honored on Dec. 12, 2011.  The accolade is also the first for a Panther since Drake Patterson garnered recognition from the conference on Feb. 6, 2012.
