Missouri-St. Louis’ Hazaria Washington is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday. The junior forward helped pace the Tritons in wins against Missouri Baptist and Lindenwood last week.
Washington registered her third double-double of the season netting 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Tritons’ 73-70 overtime win against Missouri Baptist on Nov. 27. She was 8-of-19 (.421) from the field, while totaling three blocks and an assist in the victory.
In Missouri-St. Louis’ 67-62 win at Lindenwood on Dec. 1, Washington recorded 10 points, notching her fourth double figure scoring in as many games this season. She also snatched five steals and logged two blocks.
For the week, Washington averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game. She shot 40 percent from the field after playing 33.5 minutes per game. She’s averaging a league-best 5.8 offensive rebounds per game and leads her team in scoring with 14.0 points each time out.
The honor is Washington’s first of her career and the first for a Missouri-St. Louis player according to league records dating back to the 1998-99 season.
