INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis junior guard Katy McIntosh was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 28-30, it was announced by the league on Monday.
In No. 7 Indianapolis’ lone contest of the week, McIntosh led all scorers with a career-high 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting (.563), while also adding six assists and six rebounds in a 78-74 double-overtime thriller against GLIAC leader Michigan Tech.
Against the Huskies, the Austin, Ind., native went 8-for-11 (.727) from the free throw line, which her last four points from the stripe helped seal the win for the Greyhounds. Indianapolis shot 43 percent (28-of-66) from the floor and 74 percent (20-of-27) from the free throw line.
McIntosh has fronted the Greyhounds (7-1) five times in scoring and is averaging 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
The honor is McIntosh’s first of her career and second for Indianapolis this season; teammate Kristin Turner earned the award on Nov. 19, 2012.
