University of Indianapolis senior Jermel Kindred and freshman Joshua Bass have swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, respectively, it was announced by the league on Wednesday. The Greyhound tandem was recognized as the conference’s best performers last week in a vote conducted by the league coaches.
Bass takes home his first weekly accolade and is the first Greyhound field athlete to earn top honors since Ryan Smith was recognized by the conference on Feb. 22, 2012.
The Springfield, Ohio, native finished second at the Wildcat Invitational this past week, which was contested on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan. His jump of 7.3 meters was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, which currently ranks seventh in the country and first overall in the conference.
