University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Jessica Watychowicz and Lewis University sophomore Kayla King were picked Wednesday as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
In her first meet back since late November, Watychowicz lapped the field to win the 3,000-meter event at the Tadd Metzger invitational. The Burbank, Ill., native ran an NCAA provisional mark of 9:44, which currently leads the GLVC and ranks sixth nationally.
Watychowicz earns the first weekly award of her career and is the first Ranger track standout to be recognized by the conference since Hope Christie captured the honor on Feb. 15, 2011.
