INDIANAPOLIS – University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Jessica Watychowicz and Lewis University junior Megan Marchildon were picked Wednesday as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Watychowicz earns her second straight Track Athlete of the Week award – and second of her career – as she was honored last week by the conference for winning the 3,000-meter event at the Tadd Metzger invitational.  This past weekend, the Burbank, Ill., native won the mile at the UW-Parkside Classic by more than 20 seconds with a time of 4:58, which converted to 4:55.  Her time set a new meet record and was good for eighth-best in the country this year.

Marchildon was a runner-up finisher in the pentathlon at the Division II Challenge Meet in Geneva, Ohio over the weekend.  The Ypsilanti, Mich., native scored 3,443 points in the event, which ranks first in the conference this year and eighth in the nation.

This is Marchildon’s first career weekly award.  Her honor also keeps the Flyers’ streak alive of having at least one representative honored each week during the indoor season.  After Kamille Ferguson was named Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 16, Kayla King was named Field Athlete of the Week both on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30.
