University of Indianapolis junior guard Katy McIntosh was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 7-9, it was announced by the league on Monday.

For the week, McIntosh led the Greyhounds (15-6, 8-5 GLVC) to a pair of double-digit divisional  road wins averaging 21 points, 6.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game.

Against Bellarmine, the junior guard went 6-for-9 (.667) from the field, and was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.  She tacked on eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals in the Greyhounds 81-67 win over the Knights.

On Saturday, the Austin, Ind. native, improved her shooting to 69.2 percent from the field, en route to a game-high 25 points, while grabbing six rebounds, and four assists in the Greyhounds 71-60 victory over McKendree.  She also went 7-for-7 from the charity stripe to increase her season free-throw total to 117, breaking the school record for the most free throws by a junior.  McIntosh also holds UIndy’s mark for most free throws made by a freshman.  In the win, she became the 20th member of the 1,000-point club at Indianapolis.

So far this season, McIntosh has fronted the Greyhounds’ 10 times in both scoring and assists, and leads the league in field- goal percentage (.551), ranks third in scoring (16.8), third in minutes played (35.8), and fourth in assists (4.4).

The honor is McIntosh’s second of her career as she also won the award on Dec. 31, 2012.

The Greyhounds return home for four of their five final regular-season games.  The stretch run starts Thursday, Feb. 14, when Indianapolis hosts Southern Indiana for its annual Play 4 Kay contest.
