Bellarmine University junior Robert Sandlin, Jr., and University of Indianapolis senior Ryan Smith have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.
Smith, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., takes home his second-straight Field Athlete of the Week honor and the third of his career.
He won both the shot put (17.82m) and 35-pound weight throw (19.32m) at the Hoosier Hills Invitational this past week. Both throws were NCAA Provisional marks as well as the best tosses by a GLVC competitor this year.
