INDIANAPOLIS – University of Southern Indiana senior center Keith DeWitt has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.  DeWitt helped USI to a 2-0 start of a three-game road swing by averaging a double-double at No. 12 Indianapolis and Saint Joseph’s last week.

DeWitt started the week with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a dominating 87-62 win over UIndy. He also had three blocks and four assists, while shooting 54.5 percent from the field (6-of-11).

The High Point, N.C., native finished the week with a game-high 27 points and 12 rebounds in the 73-58 victory over Saint Joseph’s. He also had 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists in USI’s 25-7 run in the final nine minutes of the win. DeWitt shot 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the field and 5-of-7 from the line against the Pumas, while dishing our four more assists.

The back-to-back double-doubles was the fifth in the last six games and the seventh of the year.

For the week, DeWitt averaged 20.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game. He is posting 13.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 blocks per contest during the season.

This is DeWitt’s second career weekly award as he was first honored two weeks ago on Feb. 4.

Southern Indiana (18-5, 11-4 GLVC) hits the road to Bellarmine (18-5, 10-3) on Thursday before welcoming McKendree (7-18, 1-14) on Saturday.
